What I did: An update on the progress of soliciting Jean Nix and Pat Spencer was discussed. Their lack of communication and response initiated Dr. Butera to discuss another possibility with another graduate student, who meets preceptor qualifications with an MBA, to serve as my preceptor for Nursing 600 and Nursing 610. The idea of continuing to assess the senior population through graduation was reinforced. Teresa will seek approval of information disclosure from Angela Garcia, Department of Nursing Administrative Assistant, for what ever information is already available. Additionally a current copy of CSUSB Standards will be requested through the Department of Nursing.

What I did: While awaiting for specific population information from the Dept of Nursing, I followed the Community Tool Box Guidelines is defining a community by first defining the broader community. As nursing students are selected from the general CSUSB student population, data about the CSUSB student population was gathered. Public health research strategies often begin by using whatever data is already available. CSU Analytic studies provides general demographics based on enrollment every fall term. Other sources of data will be utilized to build describe the broader CSUSB student campus to provide a baseline for CSUSB senior nursing students. Scientific evidence, current literature, was also obtained to help identify the need to assess senior student nurses readiness for role transition.
